Benzotriazole Corrosion Inhibitors

Corrosion brings about degradation of a metal's functional characteristics and durability. Benzotriazoles are useful for protecting metals, especially copper and its alloys, from corrosion. The major applications of these compounds are as anti-freezing agents for automobiles, lubricating oils, cooling water systems, etc., to prevent corrosion of the copper and copper alloys widely used in these systems. Johoku was the first to introduce a granule type of product, which is non-coagulative and shows superb dispersability and solubility. Johoku is currently engaged in the development of extremely pure benzotriazole and its derivatives for use in the field of electronics.

VCI.

Volatile corrosion inhibitors(VCI)vaporize at room temperature, and protect metals from corrosion by forming a microscopic protective layer on the metal surface. LAN RAM developed jointly with Chuetsu Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. consists of packets containing a mixture of VCIs. Each packet is made of specially processed paper that is both water and oil resistant but highly gas-permeable. Use of LAN RAM is the most effective way to protect metal products, precision equipment, automobile parts, etc., from corrosion during transport and storage. In addition, LAN RAM greatly simplifies the process of degreasing with compounds associated with ozone layer destruction, which is required for standard corrosion-prevention methods.
